On December 16, 2025, we're adding another way to verify the authenticity of a Colorado Digital ID within the myColorado® app. With this latest release, Coloradans simply present a secure QR code from their Digital ID, and the Verifier (e.g., a business, state agency, etc.) scans it using their device's native scanner or their own myColorado app—signed in or not. A successful scan confirms one thing: a real Digital ID issued by the Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles through the myColorado app.
Our newest verification feature offers enhanced protection against counterfeit digital IDs, without requiring the creation of new accounts or the sharing of personal data. Verifiers only see the legal name and driver license or state-issued ID number, and all information stays on Coloradans' mobile devices.
The result is a simple, secure, privacy-forward solution that strengthens trust in digital identity, reduces fraud risk and makes it easier for Coloradans to use their Colorado Digital ID with confidence.

Device & System Requirements
iPhone device with iOS version 15.0 or higher.

Location access enabled to identify DMV locations and other state services near you.
Camera access enabled to scan the barcode on the back of your Colorado driver license or state-issued ID, as well as selfie identity verification during account creation, and to add important documents to your digital wallet.
